The Mediterranean

Provence is the stunningly beautiful southeastern region of France by the Mediterranean coast next to Italy.

Famous for its beauty, food, climate, and relaxed living Provence is a mecca for artists, sun and sea lovers and families alike.

About Provence

Provence attracts visitors to almost 300 days of sunshine annually.  Boasting hot dry summers and mild winters, this is a main pull for the inhabitants of Britain, escaping for short breaks or week stays.

The south west of France is famous for the abundant seafood.  Attractions in the area include coastline stretching over 71 miles, beaches, ski resorts, golf courses and amazing mountains.

As pictured in our home page show, lavender is grown in huge quantities in this region along with groves of ancient olive trees.  This region benefits from a very good network of transport, trains and buses which are a good way to explore this area, unless you prefer to hire a car with the freedom to stop and explore further as the mood takes.

Getting there

The city you would most probably fly into would be Nice, which is about an hour away from the Villa; be sure to visit the Nice markets and bistros before settling into the relative quiet of the charming self catered villa at Ste Maxime.
